Any premises where in 10 or more workers are working to carry out a manufacturing process with the aid of powers OR whereon 20 or more workers are working to carry out a manufacturing process without the aid of power such premises need a valid permit known as Factory License.
Occupier is not allowed to use any premises as a ‘factory’ unless he has obtained a valid license as per the Factory Act
Without obtaining license, the production or manufacturing process cannot be started and also occupier is not allowed to use any premises as factory.
Having a factory license makes the process of obtaining registration under Employee Provident Fund and Employee State Insurance easier.
Factory License helps in facilitating the risk management at workplace and the total implementation of Safety and Health Management Systems in factory premises.
Factory means any premises where in 10 or more workers are working to carry out a manufacturing process with the aid of powers OR whereon 20 or more workers are working to carry out a manufacturing process without the aid of power
Once license is granted it needs renewal, license can be renewed maximum up to 10 years at any single time.
If there is change in name of the factory or if there is change in number of workers, or change in Horse power, then application for amendment in license has to be made.
